As a result of the update, iPhone users will be able to watch YouTube videos in a tiny player while using other apps. Google first announced Picture-in-Picture (or PiP) support for YouTube users on iOS in June of this year. Users in the United States were the first to have access to it. YouTube Premium subscribers were also invited to try out the feature ahead of its formal rollout earlier this week.

Picture-in-Picture is now available to all YouTube Premium subscribers on iOS globally, according to a YouTube spokeswoman.

"Picture-in-Picture (PiP) allows users who browse the Web on their mobile device outside the YouTube application to see YouTube videos in a small micro player. A YouTube Premium representative on iOS says, "We're beginning to develop PiP for Youtube Premium members."

Although the new experience is being developed for iOS users around the world, 9to5 Google noted Google has started testing the features of Premium customers. YouTube Premium customers in India, as well as their global counterparts, are currently undergoing testing, according to YouTube.

YouTube picture for iOS is available till October 31 for testing. However, as YouTube confirmed its global roll-out, a vast number of individuals are expected to arrive at the new feature before the test period ends.

The image-in-image feature is on YouTube for Android for many years now. 2018 saw a supported version of PiP playback for Android Users in the USA who have Android Oreo or higher and did not have a premium member.

Since it was first introduced on iOS, the Picture-in-Picture capability has not been accessed, although it was tested last year and earlier in America with some iPhone and iPad owners. Until now, users on iOS could access PiP playback on YouTube using the Safari browser.
