Redmi 10 Prime is the Redmi 9 Prime's successor and boasts that its previous model has a lot improved. This smartphone is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera and the new MediaTek Helio G88 SoC. But all this has increased: Rs. 12, 499 starts with Redmi 10 Prime, which is greater than the Redmi 9 Prime debut price. Are the commands for the new Redmi 10 Prime worth the price? In order to discover out, I put Redmi 10 Prime to the test.

In India, the Redmi 10 Prime price

The 4GB RAM, 64GB storage edition of the Redmi 10 Prime starts at Rs. 12,499 in India. The higher-end model costs Rs. 14,499 and comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Redmi 10 Prime comes in three colors: Bifrost Blue, Astral White, and Phantom Black.

Design of the Redmi 10 Prime

Xiaomi has continued to use the 'Evol' design language that it first introduced with the Redmi Note 10 series. The Redmi 10 Prime has a recognizable appearance thanks to this design. The smartphone features a large 6.5-inch display with visible bezels all around. In the center of the display, near the top, there's a hole for the selfie camera. The gap is fairly large, and some individuals may find it annoying. The device's frame is composed of plastic and is contoured to make it easier to hold.

A fingerprint scanner is incorporated into the power button on the right side of the Redmi 10 Prime. The volume controls are located above it. The volume buttons required a stretch, but the fingerprint scanner was simple to use. Only on the left side is the SIM tray. The top and bottom of the frame are flat, just like the Redmi 9 Prime. The top of the phone features a 3.5mm headphone socket, an IR emitter, and speaker holes, while the bottom has a USB Type-C port, a primary microphone, and a loudspeaker.

The back panel is also constructed of plastic. When placed on a level surface, the camera module, which houses four cameras, protrudes a little, causing the device to shake. I had the Blue Bifrost color variety, which has a great gradient design on the back but is a fingerprint magnet due to its glossy texture. To keep the back smudge-free, I had to clean it down periodically.

Specifications of the Redmi 10 Prime

The MediaTek Helio G88 SoC is found in only a handful of modern smartphones, including the Redmi 10 Prime. Depending on the model, Xiaomi has coupled it with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. These models have storage capacities of 64GB and 128GB, respectively. On the standard edition, you may now use part of the storage to increase RAM by 1GB, while the higher variant allows for 2GB.

Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the 6.5-inch display, which boasts a full-HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. By default, the display is set to 60Hz, but you may change it to 90Hz in the display settings. To save battery, Xiaomi claims that the smartphone features an adjustable refresh rate that can go as low as 45Hz when the screen content is static, 60Hz when streaming video, and 90Hz when scrolling or gaming.

The Redmi 10 Prime is powered by a large 6,000mAh battery. Although the item comes with a 22.5W charger, it can only charge at 18W. This phone also supports 9W reverse charging, allowing you to use it as a power bank to charge other devices. The Redmi 10 Prime is a dual-SIM phone that supports 4G and VoLTE on both SIM cards. It also offers an extra storage MicroSD card slot. Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi and four satellite navigation systems are among the connectivity possibilities.

MIUI 12.5 runs on top of Android 11, and my handset has the July Android security patch installed. Amazon, Facebook, Prime Video, LinkedIn, Mi Credit, and Netflix are among the preinstalled apps on the smartphone. The ability to delete these apps is a step in the right direction for Xiaomi. GetApps, a Play Store alternative, is also preinstalled, and it sent a few push alerts during the review period. The Redmi 10 Prime's UI is simple to operate, and navigating through the menus was smooth. Other Xiaomi features like Game Turbo, Second Space, and Lite Mode, which we've seen on earlier handsets, are also available here.

Performance of the Redmi 10 prime

In my experience, the Redmi 10 Prime features an excellent display that is bright enough to be used indoors. The stereo speakers are bright and make it more attractive to view videos and play games. The sound is hollow, but this at this price point is acceptable. The fingerprint scanner that was located on the side felt that it would be fast to open the smartphone, which usually took only one attempt.

It was easy to work between apps, and I got the 6GB RAM variant that was fast to load applications. I conducted benchmarks to see how the Redmi 10 Prime did. The telephone was 245.744 points on the AnTuTu benchmark. In the PCMark Work, it managed 8,375, while in the Geekbench 5, in the single-core and multi-core tests it scored respectively 365 and 1174. In the GFX-Bench T-Rex and 8.6fps test, the Redmi 10 Prime also managed 40fps.

I tried the Redmi 10 Prime BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), and it failed for both HD and High graphics or frame rates. In these conditions, the game was playable and I saw no latency or stutter. The phone felt warm to the touch after around 30 minutes and showed a battery drain of 9%.

The large battery of 6,000 mAh is large enough to manage without problems for a day and a half. The phone was used for 16 hours, 24 minutes, in our HD video loop test. Loading by means of the 18W provided loader, after 30 minutes, smartphones reach 24% and in an hour 50%.

Cameras are given in the  Redmi 10 prime

In the quad-camera arrangement, Redmi 10 Prime is made up of the primary 50-megapixel camera, the ultra-widespread 8-megapixel camera, the two-megapixel macro camera as well as the 2-megapixel depth sensor. The camera app is pretty much the same as we have seen on Xiaomi recently. HDR, as well as AI, can be switched quickly, and a Pro mode provides you full control of the parameters.

Most of the pictures I shot with Redmi 10 Prime were in cloudy weather. Photographs taken during the day came out with an average appearance decent. They were exaggerated and didn't appeal much to me. There was also a faint grainy edge on the frames. You can shoot a wider frame with the ultra-wide-angle camera, but compared to the primary sensor, I found the output is a step back. At the edges, the output was also slightly distorted.

Narrow images were well detailed and the AI could quickly locate the point of the smartphone when it was enabled. The colors were fairly exact and the phone could distinguish the topic from the background to create a profound effect. Portrait photographs were well detected on the edge and the telephone could successfully blur the backdrop. You may also set the blur level before you take a shot. Macros had decent details, however, I had to modify the frame to prevent a phone's own shadow from falling into the subject. The output is 2 megapixels restricted.

Strongly average low-light camera performance. Shots seemed dark and there was a lack of detail. With AI activated, performance is slightly improved, but not drastically. Night mode produces somewhat brighter photographs without the most detailed information.

Selfies were acceptable in the daylight with an 8-megapixel front camera. The output also appeared to be sharpened with violent blacks jumping up. Portrait photographs were well detected on the edge and in daylight, the phone managed to create a sufficient background blur. Lightweight photos shot below the average lamp, but others with a brighter light source in the vicinity were all well. Light weather Selfies.

For the primary camera and the selfie shooter, the video recording is 1080p. The footage was not stabilized during daylight or night shooting.

Final Verdict of the Redmi 10 prime

The Redmi 10 Prime is better than the Redmi 9 Prime, however, it also has a greater price. Although it performs better than its predecessor, it lacks cameras. A high-quality refresh panel and a large 6,000mAh battery are available to informal users. This telephone needs to compete with the Realme 8i at its beginning price of 12,499 RS, which has better paper specifications (we shall soon review). The Redmi 10 Prime's highest expensive option is around the same as Redmi Note 10S and Redmi 10T 5G which both provide greater hardware.
